"...there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother." Proverbs 18:24
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have a friend that knows all about you (good and bad) and loves you any way? A friend who is "always" there for you any time night or day. A friend who is there for you even when you haven't been there for them. This friend loves and cares about you so much he would give his life for you. Does it sound too good to be true? I want to tell you that there "is" someone who wants to be that kind of friend to you. It's true and He is amazing!
If you don't already know Him, I want you to meet my friend, Jesus. No one has ever had a better friend than Jesus. His love is everlasting. (Jeremiah 31:3) His love is perfect and always there even if we make mistakes. He doesn't leave us or stop loving us when we make mistakes. His love is always there. It's not like the love we are often use to here on this world- it is very special and there is no love like it.
Jesus is a very special friend. He is there day or night through good times and bad times. He is patient, kind and loving. One of the things I think is so special is that He knows us so well He even knows how many hairs we have on our head. (Matthew 10:30) We are that important to Him, He knows even the smallest detail about us. There have been times in all our lives when we have rejected Him, but He is still there loving us.
Jesus is God's only Son. Their relationship is like no other and their love for us cannot compare to any earthly love. This love is so strong and wonderful that Jesus left God, His Father and Heaven to come down here to earth to rescue us. When things went terribly wrong here on this world, they had a plan. They did not want to lose us, they wanted to save us so they had a plan to reunite us with them. Jesus would leave God His Father and Heaven and He would come here to this earth where people were doing all kinds of bad things and He would give His life for us - for you and for me. First of all, I can't even imagine how God must of felt! How hard it must of been for Him to let His Son come here and die. (John 3:16) Put yourself in His place, how could He bare to see His Son go through that. Then I think about Jesus and all He endured for you and for me. He left His Father and His home in Heaven to come here. He was born and grew up here knowing his mission was to give His life for us and save us. (Matthew 1:21) God the Son was rejected by men, spit on, beaten, laughed at, a crown of thorns was put on His head and then was nailed to a cross to die. (Matthew 27:29 & 30, Hebrews 12:2) The torture He endured for us we can't even imagine. He was crucified for us. Think about how much He loves you and me to do something like that for us! God the Son gave His life for us. Think about that for a minute-God the Son took our place. While he was going through all this He asked God to forgive the people who were doing it to Him! (Luke 23:34)
He is our Saviour, our Lord and our friend. There is no greater love! He died the death mankind should have had so that we could have life, eternal life. What a sacrifice He made! That is great news! That is "amazing" love! What a precious gift He gave us! His love does not end there, He rose again! (Luke 24:6&7, Matthew 5-7) He also offers us another precious gift. The gift of eternal life. (John 10:28) All we have to do is open our hearts and invite Him into our lives and the gift of eternal life is FREE all we have to do is let Him know we want Him and His gift. He is waiting for you now.
I have even more good news! He is in Heaven right now preparing a very special place for you. (John 14:1-3) A place so wonderful that it is beyond our imagination. A place where we will once again be with Him. There will be no more sorrow, no more death, no more crying and no more pain. (Revelation 21:4) That sounds so wonderful to me! A brand new home and He is coming back again to take us there! What an amazing Love! He is waiting for you. His arms are open wide, won't you go to Him now?
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16
