His Amazing Love

Survival and Adoption

Over the years we have had a lot of great cats. Our story today is about one named Puff. She was black and white and she got her name because she was furry and fluffy. She was a beautiful cat with an attitude.  We got Puff from someone who had found her- she had been dumped somewhere when she was real little, so she kind of had that extra survival  instinct built right in- even more than cats usually do. After all she had to fend for herself for a while before she was found.
This survival instinct really helped her out living in the desert. As you may know there are a lot of things for small animals to be on the watch for in the desert- from coyotes to hawks and owls. It not only helped her out, but also her kittens. She was the best mother cat I have ever seen, very attentive and loving. And, when they got old enough she would teach them to hunt and take care of themselves. It was so amazing to watch!
One time she had a litter of kittens the same time one of our other cats did. When Puff didn't think the other Mommy was taking care of her babies fast enough she would jump in her box with her babies and take care of them. Or if the other Mommy cat was there she would sometimes jump in and help. Now I don't mean the other Mommy cat was a bad Mommy- it was her first time and in Puff's book I guess she just wasn't as fast to do things as Puff thought she should be. Or maybe Puff just wanted to help. Not really sure which one.
During this time a very sad thing happend. The other Mommy cat was hit by a car. As many of you know who have pets, they are like a part of the family. We were very, very sad to lose her. This also left her kitties without a Mommy. Before we even had time to try and figure out what to do, Puff took over and adopted the kittens and took care of them with hers as if they were her own. They never went without love and care.
When I stop and think about this story, it makes me  think about the Amazing love that God has for us and how He wants to take care of us. His love is not only amazing, but it is "everlasting"- always there. (Jeremiah 31:3) He is our helper. (Hebrews 13:6)  The Bible tells us that "God is love" 1 John 4:16  And "We love Him, because He first loved us." 1 John 4:19 I love that! He loved us "first"!  He chose us. (John 15:16) Psalm 121:5 tells us that He is our keeper and our shade. (or shelter) There is something else, something wonderful- we are called the sons of God. "Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God..." 1 John 3:1 (1John 3:2) How does it make you feel to know you are part of God's family?  I didn't know God until I grew up. All through school I never felt like I fit in anywhere. It was a horrible, lonely feeling. But, in God's family I don't feel that way- I fit in and it's a perfect fit!
God will take care of us. We just need to lean on Him, He will take care of us. In Him we can feel safe and secure and at ease. At peace. God's peace is wonderful.- It's beyond our understanding.  "And, the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7.

Remember in God's family we are "all" important and loved and we "all" fit in.
